Written In Air is currently accepting pitches for the 2025/2026 BBC World Service Commissioning Round.

We work with reporters and producers on 30 and 60 minute features forThe Documentary, including Solutions Docs.

We are particularly looking for current, reported stories taking place outside the UK and US (though you can be based there!), or pitches that bring an international perspective to stories happening there. 

Beyond The Documentary, we will also be considering pitches for the following strands in this round: Witness History, In the Studio, World of Secrets, Heart and Soul. Our company is committed to working with veteran audio producers, new audio makers and freelance journalists from other mediums who may not have audio experience (though we will pair you with a producer).
